After using a Canon PowerShot S50 for the past couple of years, all I can say is, What an improvement! Excellent picture quality out of a very compact package. I am very happy with this camera and have used it in multiple settings in several countries. My only two minor quibbles are with the power button (difficult to push and poor location) and the slippery surface of the camera. Couple with the diminutive size of the unit, this latter issue has led to several near drops. You really need to take care not to drop this camera. On the flipside, the SD990 will fit anywhere, and is definitely unobtrusive. It is also intuitive and takes great shots. I'd buy it again.

Love this camera does more than I thought it would. Great camera for entry level photographers before you spend the money on an slr. Great product.

Not pleased. I bought this camera for my parents as a Christmas gift. I read all the reviews and Canon PowerShot A470 Orange sounded like a straight forward point and shoot camera that they would enjoy. My first disappointment was that the cover for the batteries is difficult to open and close and the door itself appears flimsy. Now my father has informed me that the camera only takes three pictures and the batteries are dead! Spend the extra money and buy a better camera. I wish I had!
Easy to use, great price. Bought this camera because online reviews said Canon PowerShot A470 Orange was easy to use - so far, they're right. I haven't bothered to read the instruction manual yet if that gives you any idea. The only confusing thing I've found is deleting pictures because some of the buttons do different things depending on what menu you're in. Still, give Canon PowerShot A470 Orange a couple of minutes and you'll figure Canon PowerShot A470 Orange out. Highly recommend Canon PowerShot A470 Orange if you just want a basic digital camera.
Small & Versatile. Amazing versatility in a small, lightweight camera. Uses only 2 AA batteries; we had been accustomed to needing 4. User manual is a PDF file. You'll need to purchase a larger capacity memory card, as we found out on Thanksgiving day. I enjoy Canon PowerShot A470 Orange .

A great little camera for $250.. I did significant amount of research on the current state of digital cameras and the Canon Powershot SD880IS was at the top of almost every list. After reviewing all of the camera's features, I decided that I would check Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink out at the store. I looked at Nikons and Panasonics and Sonys and many other Canon models (why the need for so many?) but kept coming back to the 880. The wide angle lens, 4x zoom, speed, and ease of use convinced me that Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink was worth spending $250 to get a camera that "works". I've owned Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink for several days now and Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink is extremely simple to use, sits well in the hand, and takes excellent pictures.
Black Screen of Death!. First, I would like to say that I love Canon cameras and have owned many, including an SD1100 that worked great for me.

I have owned the SD880 for 3 weeks (bought from Amazon). I am currently on the trip of a lifetime to Rome and Paris. Today, at Pompeii, I was on a great tour and all of the sudden my LDC screen went black. The menus and playback still work, but the screen for taking pictures is totally black and the pictures are also black. The camera was in its case in my pocket at the time. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink was not dropped and did not get wet. This problem is widespread and well-known on Canon cameras (Google "Canonblack screen problem"), although not many SD880's have developed the problem yet. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink took the Canon S2's around 2 years before they started malfunctioning in droves. I am luckily within the return window and will do so ASAP and order something else. Thanks Canon for ruining all of my picture taking on my trip to Europe!
So far So good..... After some consideration of other options I settled on this camera as a christmas gift for my girlfriend. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink has only been two days since she opened Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink but, I can tell I made a wise purchase. This product is loaded with great features but, for her, the ability to shoot in black and white seems to be her favorite. I would really recommend this camera to anyone who has owned a Canon in the past-as the buttons are basically the same.

Also...When I bought this product Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink was priced competetively; compared to other online vendors. I think Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Pink was available at a price about $50 less than the leading electronics stores.

I saved fifty bucks and I got a huge hug and a kiss...good deal :)

I love it. I simply love it. Canon PowerShot A2100IS is the best camera in Canon PowerShot A2100IS price range. A good starting point for learning about photography as well.
Canon Powershot. I think this camera is awesome, the only reason I didn't give Canon PowerShot A2100IS a 5/5 is because you have to manually lift the flash to use it...other then that I am very happy.
Incredible Camera for the Price!!!!!. Canon PowerShot A2100IS Canon camera is awesome. I wanted to take a set up from the 5MP Sony Cybershot I used for years. Having 10 MP and 20X Optical with Canon PowerShot A2100IS Canon makes a world of difference. It's great having the ability to tilt the viewing screen. I've recommended Canon PowerShot A2100IS camera to all my family and friends.

Canon Powershot. Great camera! Portable. Quick response. Great photos! Very pleased. For the price, one of the best digital cameras around! I like Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver .
1st Cannon....WOW!. I'm a diligent shopper when Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver comes to some purchases. I've been researching buying a new digital camera off and on for about 6 months and I can say my patience has been rewarded. My two previous digital cameras were Sony's. The main reason for a new digicam was image stabilization. I've taken up kayaking and found many of my on water photos were coming out blurry, even in bright daylight.

Likes:
Macro is amazing with the SX110is. You can rest the cameras lens on a page and Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver will autofocus on the lettering. You can also manual focus in most modes. Great for catching minute details.

10x optical zoom! 40x digital zoom! Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver gets you up close when distance between you and your subject is required. Zoom up to 4x digitally while recording movie, although Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver does get grainy and you can hear the lever click on the recording.

This flash is so much better than either of my Sony's. The range is so much farther, and that's without any flash level adjustments.

The cost! A camera of this quality, with so many options at the $200 mark! Outstanding!

Dislikes:
It would be nice if the flash would automatically pop up when needed like the Sony does. Although I'll admit Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver made me jump while playing with one at Best Buy.

Too many options (13!) on the Mode Dial . My last Sony had 6 and the other options were software accessible. I'm just afraid all that turning is going to wear out the dial faster.

Also the control dial can be skittish while reviewing photos. It's too easy to press (select) while spinning (scrolling).

This is the second SX110is I purchased from Amazon. I think the first one was a return because Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver was missing the documentation tray and the little tag that was hanging of my new one. I returned Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver because the usb/av cover wouldn't stay closed. No problem with the new one I'm happy to say.

Overall it's a great camera. My first Canon. I can't wait to get back on the water with it. I keep Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver in a dry bag until I use if you are wondering.

Great Purchase!!. The picture quality is amazing and the camera is easy to operate. The size is very managable. This was a great purchase and I would recommend Canon PowerShot SD1200IS Silver to anybody!

Big Zoom disappointing pictures. Am I the only one that noticed the picture quality looks overexposed with little detail nor proper color levels. I'd try and find a S5IS which is a superior camera in regards to picture quality. I think the advantages of the "super zoom" are also part of the downfall. Looking through a tunnel, and you'll get pictures that reflect Canon PowerShot SD1200IS aspect.

Take your time and look at the picture samples taken from the S5IS versus the XS10IS - base your decision on your taste, not what you read.
Big mistake of Canon. It's Continuous shooting rate in sports mode can only reach 0.8 fps. Less than one frame per sec for a burst mode. You must be kidding me. Canon PowerShot SD1200IS is a downgrade from S3 IS which has 2.1 frames/second.

Also the size is bigger.
Needs powerful computer. I've been trying out this camera for a few days. I haven't used Canon PowerShot SD1200IS much, but I have already run across one major problem for me: Movie playback requires a computer with at least 1.66 GHz, and neither of mine is up to that level. I'm going to have to return this for a simpler one, with fewer features, but which will play back on my computer.

Love Canon and love this camera. Minus Amazon.. I had an SD 730 before this one and then Canon PowerShot A1100IS was dropped in the pool. So I started with a Casio Exilim, which totally sucks! Worst camera I have ever used. The SD 1100 is cute small and BLUE which is awesome. I love it, definitely nice to have a Canon back in my hands. Amazon does give a great price for this camera, but once I received Canon PowerShot A1100IS I noticed that Canon PowerShot A1100IS was defective. Two pixels on the LCD screen did not work. I ended up just going to a local wal-mart and paying $45 more because I am scared that if I get another from Amazon, I may have to send Canon PowerShot A1100IS back and forth paying shipping the whole time.

Conclusion: Great camera but I would pay extra in order to get Canon PowerShot A1100IS from a local store.
Camera. Selected cheapest shipping method, and Canon PowerShot A1100IS arrived the next day! excelent service and the camera is a replacement for my previous SD 1000, which I also loved. Camera doesn't wash people out and takes excelent pictures for a point & shoot.
Great Purchase. I am a high school student who is interested in photography (amateur status) and takes pictures for yearbook. I wanted a solid, attractive camera that could take fast shots, adjust to lighting quickly, and had a good auto setting, freeing me up to compose my pictures fast and effectively, rather than wasting time making sure the camera focused and that the flash worked correctly. This camera filled all those requirements, and Canon PowerShot A1100IS is the best purchase I've made in a while. I research a lot before I buy an item, and I bought this trusting that Canon PowerShot A1100IS would meet my high standards. Canon PowerShot A1100IS did! And the blue aluminum casing is both pretty and durable. I would recommend Canon PowerShot A1100IS to anyone looking for a small, light camera that takes fast and great resolution pictures. For an incredibly low price, too!

Overall great camera. Still learning the complete in-and-outs of the camera, but Canon A480 10 MP Black takes excellent photos, all clear and very crisp. A lot of different options to choose from despite its very simple outside design as well. For a novice user, I would highly recommend Canon A480 10 MP Black as a camera that will take you a long ways and for a number of years.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed at best. I was torn between buying this Canon powershot SD1100IS or a Nikon Coolpix S550. After looking at reviews on several sites I went with the Canon because Canon A480 10 MP Black had really good reviews and the Nikon did not.

I got home with the Canon and knew the first 5 minutes that I HATED it! I couldn't get a decent picture. Everything looked grainy or blurry and my children's skin tone kept coming up extremely orange and unnatural. I was pretty upset. But I tried to give Canon A480 10 MP Black the benefit of the doubt, I read the owners manual and played around with the setting for about an hour and a half. After all that 99% of the pictures I took were still awful! And the other 1% were just so so.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed by this camera. You shouldn't have to try so hard to get even one somewhat decent picture. I took the camera back after 2 hours and got a refund and bought the Nikon I had wanted. The Nikon takes 1000x's better pictures and I wish I'd just gone with Canon A480 10 MP Black in the first place!
SLOW Shipping. I have usually found amazon to be very fast with shipping and delivery. This Camera took the exact max amount of days to deliver, about two weeks. I don't know if Canon A480 10 MP Black is this product or some other circumstance. My only other complaints are I had a Canon s500 before and I enjoyed the separate manual picture taking setting. In this one Canon A480 10 MP Black takes more fiddling to get to the manual setting. Also this one if the flash is turned off Canon A480 10 MP Black is not as good at using the available light to take the picture. Still takes beautiful pictures. You need to buy a bigger memory card if you chose this camera, the one they send with Canon A480 10 MP Black is close to useless.

great price-value ratio. It's one of the few I found in Canon A480 10 MP Silver range of prices that allowed me to go beyond the automatic mode and specify aperture and/or velocity at will: a great feature
Great point and shoot. I bought the A590 as our first digital camera. We just came back from a trip to England where we took more than 300 pictures. We haven't printed them yet, but they look great on our computer. We even took some action shots during a soccer/football match, and most of those look great also. We took all our shots in the auto mode.

When we were considering buying this camera, Canon A480 10 MP Silver was a bit confusing to read all the reviews about the more exotic features of this camera. I suppose it's nice to have all those features available on this camera, but I'm not sure those features are relevant to someone like me who is simply looking for a good "point and shoot" camera. I'm glad I bought the A590, and would recommend Canon A480 10 MP Silver to my friends.
Big Disappointment. I did a fair amount of homework before buying the Canon Power Shot A590 IS with face recognition technology and image stabilization. Although Canon A480 10 MP Silver received many good reviews, my experience with the camera was very disappointing. Thw first big surprise was that although this is labeled a point and shoot digital camera, Canon A480 10 MP Silver has many features that allow an experienced photographer to modify the settings and make custom modifications. I'm not an experienced photographer and was easily overwhelmed by the choices, especially since the instruction manual jumped right in discussing these things before Canon A480 10 MP Silver even explained the basics of how the camera worked. The book didn't get to the basics until page 40! I have 2 other digital cameras that I've used for several years so I am familiar with how many digital cameras are set up----not that this helped. This model Canon represents some significant design changes in digital cameras which I wasn't prepared for. To make things worse, the instruction manual in many cases was incomplete or inaccurate. I quickly became best friends with Canon's technical support department just to learn how to use the camera! Although the tech reps were pleasant and tried to be helpful, sometimes they didn't know the whole story either. I also had problems with the software that comes with the camera for downloading pictures to my computer and editing them. When I first installed it, Canon A480 10 MP Silver worked fine. Then everytime I used Canon A480 10 MP Silver something went wrong and I had to call tech support for assistance. The problem would get resolved only to reappear a few days later and the prior solution wouldn't work any more. Even the tech reps couldn't explain why While the camera worked OK most of the time, Canon A480 10 MP Silver didn't function correctly all of the time which was really frustrating. Also the picture quality was inconsistent. Some pictures came out good, others (taken the same way) were lousy. I had so many problems with both the camera and software, even though they were brand new, I came to the conclusion that maybe I got a defective model so I returned it. After everything the camera put me through, I didn't want to waste my time trying another one so I am looking for a different digital camera to replace my older ones. If you are considering buying this camera, I wish you luck. You'll need it!

not too bad. Overall, bang for the buck, a good little handy camera for decent pictures and easy to use. I love Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue .
Perfect Gift for my Girlfriend. Bought Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue for my girlfriend for Christmas, she loves it. It's easy to use and takes great pictures. Also the battery life seems to be well above average. Definitely recommend Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue to all the guys out there looking for a gift for their special someone.
Good for 4 months. My camera just stopped working -- on Christmas Eve nonetheless! I have had Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue exactly 4 months. I have not used Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue very often -- I liked Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue while I was using it. The only drawback was not being able to see what I was taking a picture of if I was outside in bright sunlight. Up until today, I would have given this a great review. However, I was just taking a picture when Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue froze and will not turn back on again. I will be sending Canon A480 10 MP Camera Navy Blue in for repair, but I would think that a camera should last longer than 4 months!

Old Lenses do fit! very pleased!. I have had a canon rebel 35mm camera for 10 years now, I already have a nice camera bag, tripod and several lenses and filters. I really wanted to switch to a digital but wanted to buy body only. I had several sales people tell me that the pics just wouldnt turn out right. I found a friend who just bought and xti and we did some experimenting, no diff whatsoever. I found a refurbished body only on amazon, perfect price, came just when I wanted Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver to, looks in perfect condition. I have only had Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver a couple of days, and I love it. My daughter closes her eyes for shots all the time, now I can review and shoot again. Has all the same features of my old, SLR just now its digital, takes B&W, you can adjust your ISO 'film speed', etc. I think for a hobbyist trying to update their 35mm setup, this is perfect.
A Lot of Camera for Not a Lot of Money. This camera is a FANTASTIC value...as long as you don't buy Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver for full retail price. I believe full retail for the kit with the EF-S 18-55mm IS lens is about $600, but I bought Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver on Amazon for about $460. There are deals to be had on this camera, so make sure you find them.
CNET has a good review of this camera, so I'll just list the pros and cons as I see them.

PROS
-Phenomenal photo quality/color fidelity
-Intuitive menu/user interface
-Sensor cleaner
-Lightweight, comfortable to hold
-Fast autofocus
-Basically non-existent shutter lag
-Takes only about 1 second to turn the camera on and take a picture
-Compatible with almost all recently (last 10-15 years) manufactured Canon lenses
-10.1 MP is PLENTY
-Poster size prints are excellent (as long as pictures are crisp)

CONS
-Relatively few photos per second (3 in ideal lighting conditions)
-Multiple frames per second requires ideal lighting conditions
-Lack of spot metering makes taking pictures with lots of contrast VERY difficult (i.e. sunlight through trees or behind landscape). This is my biggest complaint with the camera.
-Not compatible with wireless remote control
-Kit lens is not great in low light conditions
-Lenses with image stabilization are very expensive

Overall, this is, in my opinion a terrific starter's digital SLR.

Canon REBEL XS simply a beautiful experience. I spent several weeks reviewing the REBEL XS vs it's many 10 MP adversaries, I even checked Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver against the ultra zooms as I wanted the convenience of video as well, but too many good things stood out with this camera and so I decided upon it. I bought the rebel XS and after days of dirt testing this camera I've found Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver a beautiful experience.
Now I'm a professional videographer attached to a tv station in Trinidad & Tobago, my purpose for this camera was the need for a quick sharp still shot camera that would be impressive under low light and still capture impressive portrait shots to be used for my website and for large prints. I didn't want to shell out over a $1000. US for a camera body.
What is tagged by Canon is true: The full auto mode is truly accurate and gives excellent shots always, Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver makes photography so easy for a beginner or intermediate. The portrait mode isn't blurry, images are clean, nicely toned, excellent in quality for large size prints. The P ( program mode) I like alot at first because this mode sets exposure so nicely I found Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver addictive. I shot alot of night pics of cars on a freeway, with bright, sharp, lively colours emerging. Night pics at 800 iso had very very very little noise, and I mean I was searching the pics on 15" monitors for reason to complain, but was really impressed.
The auto focus is really quick. Th XS comes with "only" a 7 point auto focus system compared to the XSi 9 point, forgive me when I say there may be no need for another 2 points when the camera focusses so quick and so accurately. I have not gotten a soft image when shot with the auto focus operating.
Now for those point and shoot cams that boast about "face detection"....5 faces...6,7, some even 15. I also have a 10 mp ultra zoom, this simply matters little if not at all, if the focussing ability of the camera is poor or average, and given the "average lens" quality they're made of.
I have learnt clearly that a 10 MP ultra zoom simply cannot compare to a 10 MP D SLR...chalk and cheese.
I also bought the Tamron 70mm - 300mm, F4-5.6 telephoto/ macro lens. No vignetting at either end of the lens.
Auto iso is simply magnificent, have not taken a shot where the camera over estimated or underestimated the iso levels.
The Manual mode of this camera is the most impressive for me. The rebel XS via various magazine testing has come up faster than it's other 10 MP rivals when Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver comes to fps shooting, and burst images. Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver really does shoot 3 fps consistently, Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver shoots 2.3 fps in low light, worst case is over 1 fps all at 10 MP quality.
I haven't used a lower quality since, given I bought a Transcend 8GB SDHC card storage is not an issue.
Most of my shooting has been at night, for the little done in daylight, Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver has been amazing. Colours are very bright, depth of field very very nice. Macros works well. Image optimizer simply shocked life out of me. I was in a shaded area and without flash Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver really improves the subject without over blowing the background, stuff that is almost impossible on point and shoot cams.

Stuff I disagree with from the "reviews" : 1- "The camera feels cheaply built"....simply wrong, nothing is shabby, buttons are actually easy to press, doesn't have cheap clicks to them, the lens mount has a secure feel to it, and a proper snap when Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver is set. Battery compartment is certainly secure. Your finger must intricately open the door for entry, won't be an accident issue. Rubber door at a.v. ports snap in well. Rubber grip is firm enough, smooth enough to not irritate your hands.
2- " XS is "overpriced" compared to the XSi.....Xsi shoots slower than the XS, XSi picture quality is equal to the XS even though the XSi is 12 MP. The XSi may be the 3" LCD and a few other upgrades, but these upgrades don't add up when the picture is taken and the quality of both cameras match alike. I may have chosen the XSI if I wanted to spend the extra $150. u.s but for the lesser price, I'm yet to regret.
3- "The XS "only has a 2.5" LCD compared to a couple of it's rivals having 3" LCD's". I can see every thing clearly with this screen, even with Histograms, and grids onscreen. If LCD's get much bigger then canon may need to install a tv tuner as well....the 2.5" is more than sufficient.
4- "The XS doesn't have SPOT METERING compared to the XSi, so this is a big issue"- haven't encountered a reason to complain yet, after 500 night shots and 200 day shots.

THE DOWN SIDE: the EOS software for uploading the photos to computer, and remote controlling the cam via computer is AWFUL. It's a task to upload, as Canon PowerShot SD970IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera Silver is beach balling when you hit "upload". Digital professional software is non responsive. I have not been able to use the software past the install point. Mac version here.
Better use i-photo and photoshop.

I highly rate this camera, and as a videographer who's accustomed to t.v. broadcast quality the REBEL XS is worth it, and since canon is so intent on pushing the rebel XSi they have significantly lowered the price on the XS.....I recommend people buy the XS and get a good lens with the discount earned. The trick is in the lens and the user, and lesser the camera.

Canon CBK4-300 AA Battery and Charger Kit. Batteries required two charges to start with, but lasted over 10 days in our camera after that. Took almost 300 pictures and some movies, and reviewed pictures and movies on battery power before the battery warning light came on for our camera. Compact and easy to use! I like Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .
Great product - charger works well with other brands too.. I've bought NiMH (nicknamed Nim-Hah's) from Canon, Energizer, Radio Shack, & RayoVac. We use them in exactly the same way and with the same load everytime. So it's easy for us to tell which gives us the best performance.

How we use them: dozens of flash pictures in a Canon digital camera
Results:
The Canon batteries can recharge the flash diode 30-50% faster than the other brands we tried.
The Canon batteries give us double or more snapshots before having to replace.

Final Note: Some critiques will say that they can't see the difference in value for the higher price. I would say "bull". faster flash warmup and less battery chnges are worth the difference.

Canon Battery Charger Pack. I bought Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery item for $40 online and then found out my Canon Camera didnt need a Cannon brand charger and I could have bought one for $10 instead. In total I spent for Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery charger which included the shipping and handling. Not worth it. Go to another store and by one for $10

Don't buy this camera. I have been a Canon owner for decades. My first SLR was the AE-1 Program and was a wonderful camera for years. My last few cameras have been point and shoot digitals with some ability to manually control things like shutter speed, white balance and the like.

I bought the Canon Rebel Xsi a little over a month ago and have consistently had problems with the auto focus. I called Canon tech support and after much discussion and evaluation of my test shots they asked me to send them the camera and lens for evaluation. They were both returned about 10 days later with the note that the lens needed some adjustment but all was now within factory specifications. More test shots showed the same blurry images when zoomed to 100%. By comparison, my point-and-shoot digital produces sharp images at 100%, as a much more expensive DSLR certainly should.

The bottom line is that repeated calls to Canon Tech support have yielded nothing but blaming me for not understanding how DSLRs work or understanding the "softer focus" of DSLRs compared to P&S cameras. I have seen other complaints on blogs about the bad focus of this camera - unfortunately after my purchase. I don't know why Canon does not stand behind this camera but their attitude is "you bought it, get used to it."

If a camera cannot accurately focus, what good are all the rest of its abilities? As far as manual focus (one of their suggestions to avoid the auto focus problem), there is no built-in help for manual focus as there was in the old film SLRs. After all, you're supposed to be able to rely on the elaborate auto focus system to do its job. Nothing they have suggested, and I have tried mightily, has fixed this basic problem. I'm now planning to sell this camera online since my return window (30 days) passed while I spent too many hours trying to get Canon to take some responsibility for this problem. Maybe someone else will be happy with this camera if they never want to see their photos at 100% of the image size or never expect to crop them.

Shame on Canon for this defective camera and not standing behind Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera by replacing it. They apparently care little about customer satisfaction at least with this model.
excellent camera for the price. This is a great entry level DSLR. It's very intuative to use. The quality of the pictures taken from this camera is excellent even with the cheap kit lens. I can't wait to get some L-lenses. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera only cost a little bit more than higher end point and shoot cameras, but the level of artistic rendition that can be achieve from this camera is well worth the extra cost. If you like taking still images buy this camera instead of wasting your money on a point and shoot. Highly recommended. One gripe though....my dirtyface smear all over the lcd screen everytime I use the view-finder. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera makes reviewing your shots a bit blurry. Very annoying.
Great product. I am kind of new to the DSLR photography, but I think this camera is awesome. The picture quality is outstanding. The controls are very easy to use. The menu is self explanatory and intuitive. I love big LCD display, that allows to see the picture quality right after taking the picture.

The two things I would improve:
- replace menu navigation buttons with something that responds better (e.g. scrolling ring)
- the grip. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera seems like I could use a bit more handle.

The lens works great for me. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera has a decent angle for taking pictures inside and outside.

For taking pictures indoors I would definitely recommend adding an external flash also from Canon.

Canon Battery Charger Kit. Much better than having to take pounds of non-rechargeable batteries on trips. Plugs in anywhere (with the appropriate adaptors plugs); takes little space. Wouldn't go anywhere without it! I enjoy Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .
The Canon CBK4-300 AA Battery and Charger Kit . When I searched to purchase this my friend Charlie recommended Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery too, so I knew Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery would be great. You don't have to worry about constantly changing the battery. Also, this is the perfect time to buy Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery so you don't have get the one battery can work on every camera.

Canon Battery Charger. I recently purchase a new Canon Digital camera. I was going through batteries like crazy. I went to Amazon to look up what kind of rechargables were recommended. Bought the charger they suggested and LOVE IT!! I like Canon CBK4-300 Rechargeable Battery .

Great camera.. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP is a great camera for anyone upgrading from a fixed lens digital, especially if you have lenses from your film based EOS like I do. Am very happy with Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP purchase. Amazon had the best price with no hassel.
My heaven!. We are partial to Canon's anyways - but my husband and I bought Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP as a mutual Christmas gift and we are in Heaven! It's truly perfect!
Worth every dollar & more! My 2 year old, is pictured to death! ha ha
So Far, So Awesome. This is my first DSLR. Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP seems I've made a great choice. The pictures Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP takes are beautiful in automatic mode and I'm enjoying playing around with the manual settings. Plus I can screw up all of the settings while I am playing and jump back to taking easy photos by turning the mode dial back to the auto setting. With all of the Amazon gift cards I used the camera didn't cost me much, but Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP would have been completely worth the full price.

When viewing pics. you can change canon powershot a480 10 mp from vertical to horizontal just by turning camera. Very cool! I couldn't be happier with purchase.

Canon dependability. This battery works equally well as the one that came with the Canon PowerShot SD950IS. Canon NB-7L Battery has performed as anticipated when charging and photographing. I have confidence in this battery as compared to aftermarket versions.
NICE TO HAVE ALONG. Just returned from a South America 16 day trip and even though my battery never did show low on the camera, Canon NB-7L Battery was great to have a spare charging in the room. Canon NB-7L Battery is worth buying the Canon brand battery.

Canon camera battery. Just as I expected and have had before. Canon brand products are the only thing I would use in my Canon camera. I like Canon NB-7L Battery .

Wonderful gift for our daughter!. My daughter had admired her friend's Sony Cybershot, 10MP Digital Camera and asked that we give canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp too her for Christmas and Birthday. Her friend loves her camera and offered to assist in down-loading and any other needs. When we found the 12.1MP for about the same price we expected to pay for the 10MP, we jumped on it. Our daughter has not stopped taking pictures, they all turn out beautifully and her partner takes as many photos as she does. She is thrilled. Now, I'll have to save to get the same camera for our house!
Sony DSC-W200. I guess I've probably owned fifteen or more digital cameras over the years. Several from Olympus, several Nikons including a couple of Nikon SLRs, many Sonys, and even a Kodak way back in the beginning of time. This Sony DSC-W200 is absolutely the finest.

12.1 megapixels means that you can crop quite a bit and still have a great high resolution photo. When you connect canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp to your TV you can even get 1080 high definition output.

It is small enough to constantly carry with you in your pocket. Resolution is great both with still photography and videos. Battery life is excellent.

This is the first camera I have had that automatically knows when you hold canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp sideways to make a landscape photo, and canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp instantly adjusts. So you don't later have to rotate the saved picture.

ASA 6400 is hard to believe. Not something you will use a lot, but canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp is indicative of just how sensitive the CCD is in this camera.

I recommend this little camera with no reservations!!

Nice equipment. Sony 12.1 MP is an excellent equipment. canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp takes very clear pictures and videos. Problem is that canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp has sensitive lens and the camera should not fall or turn over once the lens are extended (not retracted) or you will need to go the the Sony repair shop to have canon powershot sd780is 12.1 mp running well again. Would prefer a Canon which appears to be more durable but Canon does not have a 12.1MP camera.

Best Bang for Buck (Facrory Refurb) Under 200 dollars. Full of features. A pleasure to use. Easy to learn. I love this camera. Buy the leather case, don't bother with the soft case as Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP doesn't work well with the camera strap which unlike most cameras attraches to both sides. You will not find a better camera for the price. If you do please e-mail me. Be sure to buy some extra batteries because this camera does not accept AAA and if you are in a distant part of the world you might have a tough time getting batteries.
functional replacement for DSLR. I bought the P5100 as Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP travels a lot easier than my D70 and can do more in some respects. The main reason to choose this one over the rest is that Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP has a hotshoe and is compatible with my Nikon SB600. Here is a comparison with my D70 nikon SLR a bit unfir but the P5100 holds up surprisingly well. The P5100 has a Mg alloy body and is sturdy but light enough to hold steady on a skinny pocket tripod. Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP has video capability although the built-in mic is awful. Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP does better than the D70 in very low light. built in VR is excellent and can drop at least 2 f-stops without distortion. Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP has a face id for focusing and a Panoramic shot assist--( when you use this setting the screen displays the edge of the previous photograph so that you can align the next shot perfectly when you pan the camera.).You cannot get dust on your sensor even if you try. and twice the megapixels compared to the D70! The limitations (compared to the SLR) are cannot shoot multiple frames per sec. very slight shutter delay compared to SLR. Slow autofocus and no focus area options and limited metering options.Cannot shoot in RAW format.
For less than Half the price of the D70 this is an excellet deal. Go for it! Make your Day!

Shutter delay ruins Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP camera. I have owned and loved Nikon cameras for years -- but honestly, I hate Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP one to the point where I am about to buy a replacement. The problem is that, especially when you use the flash, there is a huge (and inconsistent) delay between the time you push the button and the time the picture is taken -- typically, 1-3 seconds.

Most of my pictures are of my small children. I am usually taking candid shots, and even when I'm not the kids can't hold still for long. In those cases, it's essentially impossible to figure out what picture you're going to end up taking. I have endless near-misses and a very irritated wife. And of course, I have lost a lot of very good pictures.

Ironically, one of the reasons I bought Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP camera was that I thought the shutter speed would be better than I had on my older, less expensive Kodak camera. In fact, it's much worse.

High Quality for a novice. I read many reviews here and elsewhere before purchasing this camera. Get a good memory card and the shot repeat time is faster than advertised. I wanted a camera that took Widescreen resolution photos so the photos would display very well on a large HDTV, the major reason I went with so many mega-pixels, otherwise, you may want to look at other PowerShots. Overall, I find the interface easy enough to use and I don't know much about photography. It's auto-focus is fine, stabilization is fine, I'm not certain but I think Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP lags a little bit when adjusting for lighting conditions. It's an excellent camera if you want the res. The video's good enough for posting the kids' activities to the web for relatives. So I feel I have a quality all-in-one for my needs.
Very good product. Used the SD550 because Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP is very fast to start and operate.
This one is even better because of the image stabilization.
12 Mega pixel are still sharp on daylight, even though I was told that 7M is the optical limit.
The compartment door is OK. would open if you use the Accessory Kit for Canon SD950 because Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP is too tight.
Battery never runs out!!!

Excellent product. Small, fast, and takes excellent pictures.
Very intuitive user interface.

Get Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP if you can.

Never leave home without it!. I've been a Canon fan for a number of years and rely upon my Canon 40d as my primary camera. The dslr provides me the range of photographic creativity I often seek however Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP is not convenient to carry 24/7. That said I found myself simply missing a lot of opportunities to capture those spontaneous moments of joy that we all experience in life. The Canon SD950IS was the solution for me. Great Canon quality coupled with a 12.1MP processor and stablized zoom not only yields a top quality output but best of all I can tuck this tiny feature rich camera in my pocket and have Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP available where ever I go. Some of my best pictures have been taken with this camera because I had the right equipment at the right time and captured a special moment that would have otherwise been just a memory.

This is the best camera I have ever owned. This camera is very user friendly. Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple has a large assortment of functions that you can learn quickly and utilize to take great shots. Enlargements remain sharp. Easy download from camera to computer or for printing. I like that you use regular batteries rather then having to recharge an internal battery. This allows you to avoid any down time. Only thing I wish worked faster was the flash recyle. Other then that, this camera is very much a 5 star product.
Lens Error...new camera. I got the Canon A1000IS camera for Christmas 2008...along with the case from Canon...to be sure Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple was protected. I took a few photos around Christmas and in January, mostly to learn how to work the camera. Then in early March I left for a 3 week vacation to South Africa. After shooting, perhaps, 400 photos at 10mp the lens error occurred and the carmera became unusable. None of the (non-violent) solutions proposed on the WEB helped so here I am on top of Table Mountain without a working camera. Let's just say I'm not totally happy with this purchase.
Good Product. works great, does what Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple is suppose to do Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple takes pictures. Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple was a gift for my wife and she loves Canon A1000IS 10MP Purple takes good pics. would recommend this product to anyone

Excellent camera. This Canon PowerShot does Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver all... I like Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver for its convenience without having to lug around a big dslr camera. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver has image stabilization and Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver provides the photography enthusiast with a camera that can be used easily on auto mode or more professionally on a variety of other modes.
Great little camera. I first bought the 880IS, but soon found out I couldn't do without an optical viewfinder or some manual control. So I exchanged Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver for the 990IS, with which I'm much happier. I have a Canon 5D if I want a big SLR with "L" series lenses, but the 990IS holds Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver own against any camera. I can carry Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver with me all the time and have gotten some great shots. The LCD screen is big enough, and the controls are easy to use. My only complaints are that Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver won't shoot RAW and Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver could have more manual controls. But, like I said, I can always get out my 5D . . .
Amazing camera! 9/10th of a G10 for much less $$ . First of all, this camera is built beautifully. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver is a highwater mark among the current Canon lineup (along with the G10 obviously). The metal body feels very solid and luxurious in your hand. I have only taken about 40 pictures with Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver thus far, in all different settings, and they all turn out great. The manual mode is what made me choose the SD990 over the aging SD950. Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver is nice to have this much control of a compact camera.

I was initially worried about the noise a 14.7 megapixel sensor this size would produce, but thanks to the new DIGIC 4 processor, Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Silver is always under control. I wouldn't use anything above ISO 600.

I am the type of consumer that pays more for better quality, and then holds onto things for a long time. This is one of those high-quality items. After your friends go through 2 or 3 plastic Kodak digicams, this will still be going strong. I wish I could afford a G10, but alas, I cannot. This is truly the next best thing. Way to go, Canon!

Great Little Camera. Takes great pictures. Very easy to use and set up. Good software included. Just what my wife wanted - a simple point-and-shoot; however, the options are there if you want to turn off the auto mode and get more creative. I love Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink .
Canon always great. Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink is our third Canon Digital Powershot - Overall great camera - great features, crisp photos - Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink version is light weight and very easy to travel with!
Improvements over SD1000--. I took a lot of time to review this camera before buying. I DID NOT buy the camera at this time, so this is a PREVIEW - not a review.

Why am I writing? Because I see so many people here describing the SD1100 as an upgrade to the SD1000 - with the only differences an added megapixel and image stabilizer - So I would like to bring to your attention the rest of the differences and improvements, which can help your decision.

The SD1100 has many improvements over the SD1000. Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink has FINALLY a battery meter which is a recent welcome addition in Canon cameras. Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink has the "LP" mode for video, which doubles the time you could record video, at almost the same quality (640x480). So in the SD1000 on a 2gb card you were limited to 16 minutes, and in the SD1100 you can have 32 minutes. That's also a welcome addition for Canon which only let's you record on uncompressed AVI format - not MPG like so many others. You can still not use the OPTICAL ZOOM when recording video.

The zoom range is also different. The SD1000 was a little more "wide-angle", and the SD1100 zooms in a bit more.

The face detection technology is also improved, by applying the strength of the flash according to the face Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Pink is recognizing, so it's should not overexpose.

For you guys who still doesn't have a clue what the SD1000 was bringing new, let me repeat in short (of course everything is included in the SD1100 as well). Face detection technology; in camera red eye correction; 2:3 guide for 4x6 prints (you know where it's gonna get cut-off); settings and menus are much better designed than previous canons (you could see more selections on screen); and much more.

I would also like to mention that pcmag.com has a review on the new SD1100, but they say that the older SD1000 (which was a "editor's choice" since arrival) have better picture quality than the newer SD1100 - So that the new 1100 is not worth upgrading from the SD1000.

Hope my information will help someone.

Canon Powershot dig camera. Delivery & service for item was good, though is was back ordered, did come in amount time. Product is excellent, would recommend anyone to get Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver here!!
This camera is awesome!. This camera has a lot of great reviews so that should tell you something...simply put, this is so easy to use and takes great photos.

Buy Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver and enjoy, I am!
Easy. I'm the non-tech grandmother who received an Elf....because Canon PowerShot SD770 IS 10MP Silver really is easy to use, small, and its a gift for any age.

A good.... Camera to use. I have used several of the earlier models of Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver camera.
The optical stabilization is much better on Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver camera than pervious models.
The 10x zoom works well and is a great help for my work.
WE use 6 cannon ameras at present inour work and we will switch the others over to Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver model as they need to be replaced.

Good job Cannon!!
The best digicam for the money; outstanding.. I've had Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver about a month, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I coach basketball, and overhead fluorescent lights are a nightmare for photos; I needed some more advanced settings, but I'm basically just above point-and-shoot as a photographer. Canons have always treated me right, and this is my best yet. The settings are easy; the adjustable ISO is a treat for sports photography; the 10X zoom has given me incredible results. Yes, there are a LOT of settings, and curling up with the manual will pay serious dividends, so you might want to do that -- you have a lot of resources with this camera if you take the time to learn how to use Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver properly. I'm getting the best gym photos EVER with this camera, and I recommend Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver completely. Just make sure you have plenty of batteries available!
Highly workable. This is a new purchase, but I've been putting Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver through it's paces. Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver takes nice, in focus pictures, and the image stabilization is useful in avoiding flash shots, which need some color adjustment. Canon Powershot SX110IS 9MP Silver snaps much quicker than my old Lumix TZ7, and the large display is very nice, although a little difficult to see in bright sunlight. I miss the articulated screen that I had on my old S1 IS, but wasn't ready to spring for the S5 IS. For macro pictures I learned that I cannot zoom in if I also want an in focus picture. The scene options are useful, and I expect I will be using the Kids/pets option often. I took a serviceable video practically in the dark, and was pleased with the result. The long(ish)zoom is useful in a very portable size camera.

Superb value & Quick Reload. I set out to find an affordable digital that had a quick reload. If there is one thing I cannot stand is missing a shot because my camera was still writing to the card. Luckly, those days are behind me. The new Canon A2000 is awesome in that department! Bear in mind, I am also using SDHC cards - and I know... I read a lot of reviews about whether one should spend the extra money on SDHC. But the combination of the Canon A2000 and SDHC cards has me ready to reshoot in just seconds. The large viewer is perfect, and of course, a lengendary Canon lens! In my opinion, Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical camera is a deal at Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical price!
Great overall. Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical camera is very easy to use, has a huge LCD for easy viewing...great value overall, and the zoom is bigger and better than on most small digitals. I would highly recommend it!
I had high hopes but am very disappointed. I had high hopes for this Canon A2000 IS because I really love the convenience of using a camera that takes easily available batteries, instead of one that needs to be constantly recharged. I was also looking forward to this model because Canon reduced the size, and for me, the smaller and lighter, the better.

Unfortunately, Canon needs to go back to the drawing board.

The camera is oddly shaped...shaped like a wedge. I dislike this wedge shape. The picture on Amazon doesn't show the wedge shape. You have to be looking down on the top or the bottom to see it.

I don't really like the way the camera feels while holding it. It's not as good as some of the other A Series. The camera also feels heavier than I thought Canon A2000IS 10MP 6x Optical would feel, based on the description. I expected the camera to be lighter in weight and easier to carry in my pocket.

I am disappointed with the flash recharge time between shots. There is a good chance you will miss an important shot occasionally while waiting for the flash to recharge.

The zoom while shooting video with this camera is digital zoom, and the results are poor. If you use the zoom, you won't be able to read words or see some things clearly. I recommend not using the zoom when recording video.

Digital still pictures are the same quality you expect with this type of Canon Point & Shoot Camera, as long as you shoot at the low ISO. Once you try to shoot in low light or at a higher ISO, the typical noise level is there. I was hoping that Canon would have improved their image sensor on their $250 cameras by now, but they have not.

The 6X Optical Zoom while shooting still pictures is great.

Macro mode for very close up shots is great.

The 3" LCD screen is very nice and clear (unless you are outside in bright sunlight, of course).

Conclusion: If you really desire a camera that accepts alkaline batteries, put the A2000 IS on your list. If the battery issue is not important to you, I would avoid this camera. In my opinion, if Canon or any other company releases a better camera that takes alkaline batteries, you will dump this camera in a second. (I know I will.) I guess this means that this can be your temporary AA-battery-operated camera until something better comes along. If you already own a camera that you are happy with, this camera is not going to make you happier, and there is no need to buy it.

Great Out of The Box!. I just bought Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP camera camera today, right out of the box I was able to take great photo's. Thankfully, I had a 2gig card from my older camera, so I did not have to buy a new one as the one they give you holds next to nothing in photo's. Still great to have a card though so not picking on it. I have been wanting a small compact camera that takes great photo's. I think I found exactly like I wanted. I got mine at Target for 30 dollars more then what Amazon sells for. Still, not a bad deal. I paid less then my first camera, and still paid less then my last fugi camera that died in the first year.
Lens Error...new camera. I got the Canon A1000IS camera for Christmas 2008...along with the case from Canon...to be sure Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP camera was protected. I took a few photos around Christmas and in January, mostly to learn how to work the camera. Then in early March I left for a 3 week vacation to South Africa. None of the (non-violent) solutions proposed on the WEB helped so here I am on top of Table Mountain without a working camera. Let's just say I'm not totally happy with this purchase.
Great camera for the price. I am not a photographer so I needed a camera that would take a professional looking picture with as little input from me as possible. This camera succeeds. Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP camera takes a good picture for the price. I've seen better pictures taken with more expensive cameras. But I am very pleased with the product and satified with the purchase.

Does what we want. First digital camera and so far Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP has done what we want. Very easy to set up and use. Inside pictures are darker than you might like but over all Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP is a fine camera to start with. Easy to move pictures to computer. We are very satisfied. Price was right for a first digital. Other reviews helped to pick this model for price and ease of use. Fits in an old phone belt case instead of a pocket case.
Beautiful camera. I bought this camera for a friend as a wedding gift and she loves it. Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP is easy to use and the image is pretty clear. In fact, she wants me to buy one more for her sister.
Canon PowerShot Review. The camera has a very nice zoom but was a lot larger that I expected Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP to be from the pictures. Sometimes the pictures are fuzzy and Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP has a hard time focusing. When the pictures are in focus, Canon PowerShot A470 7.1 MP takes very nice pictues. It's a good camera for everyday use.
